Happy Easter!

This is my little guy's version of an Easter Bonnet. The basket the Easter Bunny brought had this cute little hat in it and my little guy loved it! He's even taking a nap in it as we speak. But let's back up a little to earlier this morning. I was getting ready for church and decided to do my hair curly instead of straight. Well, my little guy comes in and says, "Mommy, you're having a bad day hair. It's so crazy!" Bad day hair indeed. But when I asked him if I looked pretty he said I did so I guess all was not lost.

Some of the other funny/heart-melting/ripping out hair things he's been saying lately:

"Mom, you're my best friend!"
"Mom, I love you biggest big!"
"Hey Mom, how YOU doin'?"
"I don't want to go home ANYMORE! EVER!"
"Mom, can I walk by hand? I won't run around and around and around."

To complete strangers:
"Hi, my name is Jonah. How are you doing?" (as he puts out his hand for a handshake).

When he doesn't want a time out or wants something I have taken away:
"See Mom? I'm not grumpy/sad/crying anymore!"

As cute as he is, my little guy has been a terror this past week! More so than the normal three-year-old attitudeness. (Yes, I just made up that word). The huffy arms folded across the chest, the scowl, the flat out "NO!", the if I ignore you/pretend I don't hear you I can keep doing the thing I'm not supposed to be doing, the if I'm quick noone will notice or if I say I'm SO SO sorry then I won't get in trouble ... the list goes on. If he's in trouble for one thing, it's literally seconds and he's off to do the next thing that will get him in trouble. And I know he knows he's doing something wrong because he will run to his room as soon as I walk in, before I've even said anything. But this too shall pass ... RIGHT!?! My mom says, "Just wait until he's 14." And my response to that is, "If he lives that long." Yesterday I tried to sell him to a lady at Carl's Jr. I guess the silver lining in all of this is he's only a little stink with me, everywhere else he's a little angel. But at the end of the day when you hear, "Guess what, Mommy, I love you biggest big! You're my best friend!" it makes it all okay. For a brief few hours. Until he wakes up at the crack of dawn and it's a new day FULL of naughty possibilities.

I can't believe it's been three years! At approximately this time three years ago my little monkey boy was being cut right out of me! I know, TMI, but that's the way it was. It has been such a joy ride since then. My little guy has kept all of us on our toes! He loves to dance and play and slide and jump and run and laugh and so much more. And of course he always keeps us laughing. Today while he was eating his birthday pizza he dropped a piece on the floor and said, "That's not supposed to happen". LOL There are so many cute and fun things he says and he's so smart! He can already identify all his letters and numbers and constantly asks me "What's it says?" Every day is an adventure. Thanks for letting me be your mommy, my amazing little man!

Hell's Kitchen

Yeah ... so I get out of the shower and smell something not quite right. Barely in a towel I go screaming in to the kitchen to find it and the living room full of smoke. I check the oven and stove - not on. I don't see fire anywhere. When asked, monkey boy just says, "I don't know, Mommy!" Then the microwave beeps telling me my food is ready. And Voila! there it is. One well done chocolate chip cookie. If the microwave hadn't beeped I would not have known what happened because the stool he used to climb on was put back in it's place and the bag of cookies was also put back like nothing had ever happened. Needless to say I was a little freaked out and kept telling my little guy how he could have burned down the house. So when Daddy comes home and asks what he did today he says, "I burned the house, Daddy. I'm sorry." I think they should pay me and make a reality TV show of my life. Take that, Jon and Kate!

Day three

Are we done yet?

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Day two

Day two started out great! First thing when we got up we went to the potty and TA-DA! my little guy went pee-pee in the potty! He was so excited! We did high-fives and loves and kisses and he got M&M's and good times were had by all. Unfortunately, I can't convince him that every time he sits on the potty can be like that first time. LOL And don't worry, I won't be giving you a day-by-day detailed report. Because who wants to hear about the next time we went to sit on the potty and someone had pooped in their big boy pants. (Hint: I don't wear big boy pants, just so you know). I have a potty training DVD I bought a while back and had to stop watching it when the host said it could take eight months to potty train a child. Here's to the longest eight months of my life! Cheers.
