Please play!

The memory game...
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

From my mom who doesn't have a blog ...
Susan, Janet and I were walking down K Street in Sacramento (back when it was
a good place to shop) on our way to Weinstock's Dept. Store. We were shopping
for school clothes. Janet was going to be starting kindergarten so she was not quite
5 years old. She was holding my hand as we walking along. Then out of the blue she
looked up at me and asked, "Mama, what's a mistress?" My mind was whirling trying
to think of an answer to this bright little girl. I was in shock to think she would ask
me a question like that and I didn't know how to answer. So to stall for time while I
thought about it, I asked her, "Where did you hear that word?" "In my book 'Lady
and the Tramp'."
"Whew," I thought as I wiped my brow, and answered her innocent question, "Out of
the mouths of babes."

I was thinking just the other day of a picture of the two of us in matching brown calico skirts and white peasant tops. What was that all about? I'm going to have to dig around and see if I can find that picture - it's probably pretty hilarious. I also remember how beautiful I thought your bedroom was - I think you had two white twin beds with yellow bedspreads. And then there were the clorox bottle dolls that our moms made, excpet your mom turned yours into a lamp!! I was in awe.

Oh... and how can I forget that you sang at our wedding - "One Friend" by Dan Seals. I loved that song, and loved you for singing it for us! Thanks.

I've come to accept the limitations of my memory. The images play more like a slide show than a video. I'll always remember looking up to my older cousin Janet, who could sing so beautiful. The one memory I could come up with was you drinking shakes for months after your mouth was wired shut following jaw surgery.

Of course I remember coming to BYU to stay with you. It was fun to hang out with your room-mates and watch movies and go to class. You were so much fun! I remember the Christmas you worked at Taco Bell the night we did our caroling FHE and so we all showed up at Taco Bell and caroled to you there! I also remember this random thought: When you worked at blockbuster and you had to answer the phone "Hello this is Blockbuster we have the Little Mermaid for $15.99, this is Janet, how can I help you?" Whew, what a mouthful! I can remember you tanning at the pool at Grandma's old house. One last one...I remember you being willing to do so many things with us at the cabin from games to creek walking to swimming at dutch Flat. I remember you saying you wanted to take the orange "workers" vest that was in the cabin down to the freeway sign that said "Campers next right" and using spray paint you wanted to add "happy" in front of campers...how funny!! I love you!
